Comparative study of behavior of electrical conductivity in KI‒Al2O3 and KI‒TiO2 heterostructure composites

AbstractThe present work reports development of binary KI–Al2O3 and KI–TiO2-based nanocomposites using simple solid-state reaction method and is characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and impedance spectroscopy. The results show the effect of heterogeneously doped Al2O3 and TiO2 on the ionic conductivity of pure KI which is moderately conductive. The results […]

Effect of thickness on characteristics of ZnSe thin film synthesized by vacuum thermal evaporation

AbstractZinc selenide (ZnSe) thin films with various thicknesses were grown on ultrasonically clean glass substrates using vacuum evaporation of 99.99% pure ZnSe powder. Thickness dependence of the structural, optical and electrical properties was thoroughly investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses revealed that (110) ZnSe plane is the dominant crystal plane for all the fabricated films. Both […]

Microstrain and lattice disorder in nanocrystalline titanium dioxide prepared by chemical route and its relation with phase transformation

AbstractThe microstructure of nanocrystalline titanium dioxide (TiO2), synthesized by chemical route, is studied from X-ray peak profile analysis and transmission electron microscopy. The broadening of the X-ray diffraction peaks indicates the presence of small crystallites with a significant amount of disorder. The progression of broadening at lower annealing temperatures, suggests the decrease in the strain […]

Estimation of lattice strain in alumina–zirconia nanocomposites by X-ray diffraction peak profile analysis

AbstractZirconia nanoparticles were synthesized by a solution combustion technique. Zirconia nanoparticles were grown inside alumina templates to control the crystal size. The alumina templates were characterized by pores of sizes of approximately 6–8 nm. X-ray diffraction line profile analysis using Williamson–Hall method and Warren and Averbach revealed that the alumina templates were characterized by negligible defect-related […]

Study of deformation microstructure of nickel samples at very short milling times: effects of addition of α-Al2O3 particles

AbstractDeformation microstructure of pure Ni powder milled for short duration was studied. The microstructure, as obtained on the basis of Rietveld analysis and microstructural modeling, shows inhomogeneity and consists of ‘heavily deformed’ with twin faults probability and ‘slightly deformed’ components with varying dislocation densities. The modified Williamson–Hall analysis was performed for both the subcomponents with […]

Impedance spectroscopy and conductivity studies of KCl-doped solid electrolyte

Abstract(CuCl)4−2x−(KCl)x–CdCl2, x = 0.0–0.4 solid electrolytes were grown via solid-state reaction procedure by suitable heat treatment. An AC impedance spectroscopy suggested that the ionic conductivity mainly arisen from grain effect. A DC electrical conductivity of 3.94 × 10−5 Scm−1 was measured for the x = 0.3 composition at 320 °C. This also shows lowest activation energy in the temperature range of 293–593 K. This […]

AC impedance spectroscopy and conductivity studies of Dy doped Bi4V2O11 ceramics

AbstractThe ac impedance and conductivity properties of Dy doped Bi4V2 − xDyxO11 (x = 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20) ceramics prepared by solid-state reaction technique, in a wide frequency range at different temperatures have been studied. All the samples exhibited β-type phase orthorhombic structure at room temperature. The Nyquist plot confirmed the presence of both grain and grain boundary […]

Investigation of physical parameters in ion-beam-heated converters

AbstractThe conversion of ion beam energy into thermal X-ray radiation by means of stretched cylindrical volumes is discussed. Converting the kinetic energy of heavy ion beam into radiation energy at high efficiency is important for heavy ion fusion. The conversion efficiency between different materials, low-Z and high-Z material, is compared and simulations have been performed […]

Estimation of lattice strain in ZnO nanoparticles: X-ray peak profile analysis

AbstractZnO nanoparticles were synthesized from chitosan and zinc chloride by a precipitation method. The synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction peak profile analysis, Scanning electron microscopy, Transmission electron microscopy and Photoluminescence. The X-ray diffraction results revealed that the sample was crystalline with a hexagonal wurtzite phase. We have investigated […]
