Abstract
The use of natural processes such as phytoremediation is a suitable solution for decreasing water and soil pollution. In this study, the effects of different seawater use levels on the growth of Vetiver ia Zizanioides in two separate experiments were validated and conducted. Experiments were conducted as a factorial in the form of a randomized complete design in the crop year 2020-2021. The test factors, including seawater at the levels of 0 %, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, were implemented with three repetitions and two water stresses for two periods of five days and ten days. The evaluated traits included plant height, number of branches, fresh and dry weight of aerial parts, and fresh and dry weight of terrestrial parts (roots). Some physiological traits of vetiver plants, such as sodium, calcium, and potassium in aerial parts as well as SAR and EC of the soil, were measured and determined. The results of the experiment showed that there were no significant changes in the vetior plant regarding the morphological features. Considering the physiological characteristics of the plant by seawater irrigation, the amount of sodium, calcium, sodium/calcium, and sodium/potassium in aerial parts and the amount of SAR and EC in the studied soil increased significantly, indicating that the vetiver plant is able to survive under salty conditions.
