Abstract

In order to separate isopropanol from water by pervaporation, the new Poly (vinyl butyral) / (polyamide/ (PCN-222 (Zr)/ 2- mono ethanolamine)) thin-film composite were developed. functionalized PCN-222(Zr)/MEA were synthesized via a post-synthetic modification method to enhance both hydrophilicity and selective water transport capabilities. The resulting TFN- PCN-222(Zr)/MEA membrane exhibited improved surface roughness, enhanced thermal stability, enhanced mechanical stability and increased hydrophilicity as confirmed through characterization techniques. Under conditions of 25 °C and a 70 wt.% isopropanol feed, the optimized membrane containing 1 wt.% PCN-222(Zr)/MEA achieved a permeation flux of 5.12± 0.15 kg·m⁻²·h⁻¹ and a water concentration of 97.31 ± 0.31 wt.% in the permeate, with a pervaporation separation index (PSI) exceeding 825.34. The membrane sustained high separation performance across varying feed concentrations and different alcohol types, demonstrating excellent thermal responsiveness as well as stability over 150 hours of continuous operation. These findings underscore the synergistic effect of PCN-222(Zr) and MEA in significantly enhancing pervaporation membrane performance, highlighting their promise for industrial applications.
