TI - Effect of traditional Chinese medicine acupoint massage combined with acupoint application on defecation status and quality of life of patients with constipation and heat caused by psychogenic drugs

N2 - Objective: To explore the effect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) acupoint massage combined with acupoint application on patients’ quality of life with solid heat constipation caused by psychogenic drugs. Methods: From May 2019 to August 2020, convenience sampling was used to select 150 patients hospitalized in the Department of Psychiatry of the Seventh People’s Hospital of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and the clinical diagnosis type was intestinal solid fever as the research object. They were divided into observation group, intervention group 1, and intervention group 2 by random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The observation group adopted acupoint massage combined with application treatment, intervention group 1 adopted acupoint massage, and intervention group 2 adopted Shenque acupoint application treatment. It compared the defecation characteristics, difficulties, and quality of life of patients in the three groups. Results: The improvement of Bristol constipation stool character and defecation difficulty in the observation group was better than that in intervention group 1 and intervention group 2 (P<0.05 and P<0.01). In the quality of life assessment scale (PAC-QOL), the observation group was better than intervention group 1 and intervention group 2 in terms of physical, psychological, worry, and satisfaction (P<0.05 and P<0.01). Conclusion: TCM acupoint massage combined with acupoint application significantly affects constipation characteristics, difficulties, and the patient’s quality of life.
