Relying on secondary data, the paper reviewed the farmers-herders conflict in Nigeria historically and assessed West African civilization and its implication for the conflict. The paper revealed that civilization and value systems affected West Africa and Nigeria especially the area of the Farmers-herders conflict in Northern Nigeria. The paper thus, recommends creating forest and grazing reserves, as well as the National Food Security Council to ensure harmonious relations between farmers-herders in the phase of civilization.
